Make your dreams come true!
The 27th of June, Dreamfields Festival took place at Recreational Area Rhederlaag, Lathum (Zevenaar), The Netherlands.
Dreamfields is an ambitious concept which is organized by Matrixx events. Besides Dreamfields they also do Emporium and XXlerator.
With 5 areas of the best house and hardstyle music of today, beautiful stages and an amazing show it is surely one of the highlights this year!
The main stage was powered by Exxellent, with progressive-house DJs like: Ummet Ozcan, DVBBS and Bassjackers. The Cross-Over stage, powered by JBL, was represented among others by Sidney Samson, Dirt Caps and Vato Gonzalez.
In addition there was a deep house stage, powered by Jupiler, with names like Chocolate Puma, Franky Rizardo and La Fuente.
Most interesting for us: The rawstyle stage, powered by Bacardi. And hardstyle main stage powered by XXlerator.
The arrival
After parking our car, we had to walk a few minutes to the festival entrance. Tickets checked and we set foot on the festival ground quickly. For 7 euros you could rent a locker – a reasonable price. However, all larger lockers were mostly taken and there were only small lockers available. After salvaging our stuff we went to the RAW stage for Tartaros.
RAW hardstyle stage
The RAW stage was hosted by MC Da Syndrome. Since it was in a tent it became hot pretty soon. Behind the decks was a castle, above the DJ booth they placed a bigger dragon head, eating the Dreamfields logo. On the sides bloody creepy arms, legs and corps did their job. A well designed stage overall. Above the audience hung a large spider. The legs of the spider were cable ducts and construction materials – these lead to the speakers. The music was not loud enough for a RAW stage, but still fine.
Juul Koopman, A.K.A. ‘Tartaros’, played a great set with tracks like: ‘Wake the F#ck Up’ and ‘Bustin Jieber’ by his own. Besides that he played bangers like ‘Hardbass Junkie’ and ‘There is a storm coming’. On this beautiful sunny day we decided to leave this stage soon and moved towards the hardstyle stage.
Hardstyle XXLerator stage
We arrived just in time for the end of the set of Audiotricz. They played some great tracks like ‘Reawakening’, ‘Wanna get loose (Hardstyle mix)’ and ‘Ghettoblaster’. The hardstyle stage was hosted by MC Villain. The design showed a big church organ. Some organ pipes were solid, others were just LEDs. The LED ones also moved to the music.
The front of the deck was a large screen with the keys of a piano displayed on it. Above the decks hung a big screen which was a book, this book told the story of Dreamfields.
After the set of Audiotricz it was time for a new introduction. Atmozfears entered the dome. He played LIVE and mixed a perfect set, very smooth and full of great tracks. Starting with ‘Starting over’, headed towards ‘Accelerate’. The temperature rises and more people arrived at the festival grounds. Atmozfears finished his set with ‘Release’ and ‘Reawakening’, it was time for the next artist: Rebourne.
Rebourne is a new talented DJ. He played very well. Tracks like ‘Lessons in Love’, ‘Red Planet’ and ‘Pandora’ by Code Black were part of the mix. He was also responsible for this year’s Dreamfields anthem. A euphorically journey into the fields of dreams – you got hooked by the catchy melody and the nice vocals.
It was a beautiful moment, underlined by the great weather, an awesome crowd and this magical song – the perfect mix.
After his set we took a walk around the area of the hardstyle stage. A very positive aspect: You could fill your bottles for free, which was highly appreciated with this temperatures. We decided to get some tokens and buy a nice cold beer.
You could buy 4 tokens for 10 euro. So, 2,50 for a token. Beer, soda and flugel were only 1 token. For 1 token you could also buy 1 bottle of 33 CL water. A very good price.
Jason Payne
After a small stop at a drinking booth, where we got ourselves some fresh beers, we went to the RAW stage again for Jason Payne. Jason Payne played his new track ‘Nose Bone’. He was wrecking the dome, slamming and smashing his kick rolls as usual. Jason Payne’s set boomed briskly with ‘Boom Baby’ and ‘Dont touch the stereo’.
The sound was still not hard enough at the RAW area. So, we set sail again to the hardstyle stage.
Let me lose my mind
Brennan Heart was the next, hitting the decks. He started his set with ‘In the End’ in the Dailucia remix. The track was followed by ‘Lose my mind’. And yes, the equalization was perfect here! After a few tracks it was time to ‘Wake up’ with the homonymous track! Still great after all these years.
The sun was still wonderfully shining across the dedicated crowd. Brennan Heart left the stage after playing his nice, summer festival feeling, track ‘Imaginary’. Now it is time for the Melodyman! One of my favorite heroes of all time!
The Galaxies Collide
Frontliner started his set with ‘Galaxies Collide’. Followed by ‘The Melody Man’. He was entertaining the audience very well. As always he played all his great tracks like: ‘Lose the Style’, ‘Our District’, ‘Halos’ and ‘Indestructible’. He closed his show with a favorite track of mine by B-Frontliner – MAGIC! After his set I went to the food corners.
You could have eaten a bread with ham, hotdogs, some french-fries, Asian food or fruits! All for a good price. A bread with ham was 2 tokens. French-fries goes for 1.5 token. I choose to eat some meat and bought a bread with kebab for 3 tokens. At Defqon I paid 4 for this.
The quality of the food was great and you didn’t have to wait for ages. You could sit and relax at the ‘Free Wi-Fi Point’ on a bench. Or you could sit at the water side at a little beach.
Around this beach there were also some fairground amusements. You could go for a ride at the Ferris wheel for instance.
In my House
After a little break we went back to the hardstyle stage again. Were Audiofreq & Technoboy opened their set with ‘In my House’ by Showtek. It gave me chills because of it was the same opening track at Qlimax 2014, awesome! They played a nice set but also many tracks I heard before this day. The two DJ’s left the stage, now it was time to prepare for glory!
Digital Punk was ready to wreck the Dreamfields into a place of hell! He opened his set with ‘Spartans (Endymion mix)’. After that we were blown away by a great list of tracks like ‘Rest in Hell’ and ‘Collateral Damage’ by Requiem.
Digital Punk was playing a very original set with many big tracks which also come along at his podcast ‘Digital Punk Unleashed’. After the set of Digital Punk the audience was ‘Unleashed’ as well. It was now time for ‘The Lord of Salvation’!
Radical Redemption LIVE
I’ve seen Radical many times in the last months and he never disappoints me. At Intents, Harder than Ever, Defqon.1 he played great sets. Again he stood his ground. Full armored, he was ready to give all he’s got. Playing tracks like ‘God’s child’ and ‘Piece of Shit’ he got the crowd on his side. Unfortunately, as it was usually a half-hour live set. It passed at a glance. Now it is time for the something unique. The showcase by Roughstate!
Roughstate Showcase
The Roughstate Showcase was ready for its first performance. The members; Adaro, Ran-D, B-Front & Frequencerz were thrilled for this set! Starting with a few tracks by B-Front like; ‘Mysterias’ and ‘Magic’, followed by tracks as ‘Fuck EDM!’ by Ran-D.
The set was accompanied by an amazing laser and light show. Also flames were shot vertically across the stage. At the beginning of the set many flags were thrown into the audience.
The crowd went crazy on tracks like; ‘Men of Steel’ and ‘Open the Gates’. At the back of the audience people stood on a hill, looking over the fantastic show. It was a fantastic ride through the tracks of the members of Roughstate. Old and new tracks were addressed. The audience went completely ‘Psycho’ and you could enjoy tracks from Gunz for Hire.
The LED screens changed for each track. So, there were several scenes shown that matched the tracks. The laser show matched very well with the tracks. The basslines were completed by spectacular lasers, the melodies were cared by the work of the LED screens. Great work by Dreamfields and the light jockeys again! A firework rounded everything up!
Dreamshow
After the Roughstate Showcase it was time for a 15 minutes end show. The end show was spectacular. ‘Brainsmacker’ and ‘Release’ gave chills to the crowd. Many different fireworks were presented and after the closing at the hardstyle stage the music was playing along with it.
After all the stage endings, there was another big ending of 5 minutes around the beach. With the hardstyle stage still pounding music you could watch across the whole Dreamfields area! Awesome!
Facilities
Dreamfields offered a lot of facilities. There were many merch shops, food & drink corners, a first aid tent, toilets, chilling spots, free Wi-Fi spot, fairground amusements, lockers etc. At the festival ground you could buy many kinds of food. Offering Asian food, Waffles, Sandwiches, French Fries, Ham, Hot Dog, Power Fruits and Smoothies! Something for every taste.
Allergic people were attended to ask for special food, I’ve never seen that before – I guess that’s service!
The price for all foods and drinks were perfect and it was cheaper compared to other festivals with this scale. 1 Token for a bottle of water, great! 2 Tokens for a good meal, even better! The lockers were very crowded at the beginning and the ending.
You had to rush through it and people were climbing on top of the lockers to get to their location! This was a smaller negative aspect.
VIP area
There was only 1 VIP area, next to the house main stage. So, we only checked it for a few moments. You could watch over the crowd and that’s pretty much everything you get. Maybe a VIP area next to the hardstyle main stage would be nice for next year 😉
To sum it up
Dreamfields 2015 was beyond my imagination! For 45 euro you got your ticket! You had a great line-up and show for that. A lot of music styles made this day amazing. Of course the weather was outstanding and made the journey complete! This year’s edition was very well organized and Dreamfields continued growing since last time! The stages had an awesome design and the show was spectacular!
Dreamfields is definitely worth your time! For young and old, something for everyone. We enjoyed this day! See you next year at Dreamfields! Let your dreams become reality!
