During the past year, Imperial has proven that they are ready to take their career to another level. Imperial’s debut album #ForeverGrindin’ features 20 tracks and one bonus track. THE STORY BEHIND THE TRACK
We sat down with Imperial to discuss their thoughts on their debut album and here’s what they had to say:
It’s the question on everyone’s mind, what was the inspiration behind your new album?
In terms of music, we get inspiration from everywhere, so you hear a lot of diversity in the album. In the vocals you also hear lyrics that we have experienced in the past and now, and the vocals are voiced by Tidjan.
How did you come up with the name #ForeverGrindin’?
It all started since the pandemic started and that period was especially difficult and yet continued, that’s how it actually started.
You first announced the title track #ForeverGrindin’ during the pandemic as a message to the world. We are currently living in what is hopefully a post-pandemic world, but despite that what does the message of Forever Grindin’ mean to you?
There are different meanings. One of them is that you should always keep going in the difficult moments.
FROM THE STUDIO TO DEFQON
Each track name in the album includes a hashtag, what is the significance of that?
Yes, that’s a good one, it’s good for marketing.
You had the opportunity to present your new album at Defqon and then again at Decibel. What thoughts were running through your head premiering the tracks at the biggest hard dance festivals in the world?
It was really unbelievable to be there at the beginning, to be playing there. At some point we realized a little later that we were not only there but playing our album there too!
What does a typical day in the studio for you look like working together as a duo to produce an album? Do you have separate roles when it comes to producing?
We have different roles for this. One is more concerned with the lyrics and the other with the music. However, sometimes it’s both of us, and this is how we do it together.
The album blends together rap, uplifting melodies, Uptempo, and Hardcore. What are you tips for producers to blend successfully blend different genres?
We would give as a tip to keep making music that appeals to yourself. Make something you like to make. Along with this, make something that is truly unique.
Where would you like to hear your music played next festival season?
That’s a easy question that’s that are some big festivals like Dominator and also some smaller events.
If you could sum up the album in one word, what would it be?
As you can guess, because the album isn’t called Forevergrindin’ for nothing so it’s ForeverGrindin’!
