The government will not provide clarity on events without an overnight stay before August the 1st. Event organization and its co-plaintiffs feel compelled to continue the summary proceedings

Zwiesel

Following the dialogue on a sustainable future for the events sector, that took place on Tuesday 20 July between the Dutch government and, among others, the ID&T Group, the Alliance of Event Builders and Fieldlab Events at the proposal of Minister De Jonge, the government announced today that multi-day events with camping will not be allowed until 1st of September.

“Although we are extremely disappointed to miss out on the editions of Mysteryland and Decibel outdoor for the second year in a row, we understand the ban on festivals with camping. Together with our suppliers and artists, our teams work hard all year long to do everything they can to give our visitors a fantastic experience, however, after consulting with the various government bodies, it turns out that it is logistically unfeasible to retest the camping guests every 24 hours.” | Rosanne Janmaat, COO of the ID&T Group

No Clarity – Proceedings continue: Every day counts – we need clarity

UNCERTAINTY MEANS RISKS

However, the sector is left with great uncertainty as to whether or not events without an overnight stay will go ahead. Despite the fact that in earlier conversations with government representatives it was stressed that a decision on non-overnight events was needed as soon as possible. The government announced today that it will not give a definitive answer until 13th of August. This delay gives irresponsible high risks, the organization of events that take place in August are in such a critical final phase that every day counts. Now the government has indicated that it will only provide clarity on this matter on the 13th of August. The ID&T Group feels that it has no other option than to continue the preliminary relief proceedings in order to enforce a faster decision. The court has been asked to schedule a hearing as soon as possible.

“Based on the results of the Fieldlab events, we know that we can organize events without an overnight stay in a safe and responsible manner. It is not an option for us to wait until the 13th of August for a decision on events that are already planned for the following day,” | Rosanne Janmaat.
