The Dirty Tuesday Week 17 had a special guest.
DJ Coone #Quicktalk
So a new album by Mr. Coone himself, that’s big news. I asked Coone some Questions about himself, his career and what Dirty Workz means to him. So we met him for a quick talk.
What is the reason you became a DJ?
The main reason is because I love music. Ever since I was a kid, I saw my older brother mixing records in his bedroom. That’s how I first got in contact with “DJing”
What do you think about Ghostproducing?
I’m totally fine with that… As long as the artist/DJ representing the music is passionate about what he/she is doing. We don’t want puppets with no love for the music. But I get it, producing is hard and not everybody has technical skills.
What is the track you produced you are most proud of?
My latest single “Now Or Never”. It’s a new track with David Spekter. We also wrote “Faye” together… It was hard to find another subject that was this emotional and breathtaking. But I think we did a pretty good job! There are so many by the way… “Words From The Gang” is still a classic which I think is still pretty relevant to this day!
Do you listen to hardstyle in your private time or do you also listen to other music genres?
Of course! Every month I have a podcast “Global Dedication”. So even if I don’t want to listen to Hardstyle… I need to! 🙂
My second musical love is Hip Hop. I just love how they are able to express their feelings through lyrics. I just discovered “Logic” and “Chris Webby”. And it looks like my hope in Hip Hop is restored!
What is the most important thing in your life?
There are a few things really important in my life, in random order: My daughter, family, my girlfriend, music, my fans, my friends… Oh and “Steak Tartare”.
Your song Now or Never is a really emotional song, what was the reason to produce a track like this?
Like I said before. As an artist, you always have to be the best version of yourself, 24/7. And that’s not possible… Also, social media can be a bitch sometimes. But when you look further… You see the fans, the music, the feels. And that’s what makes it all worth it.
When did you start to produce your own music?
From when I was just a kid. But I just realized that my first single came out in 2002, f*cking 17 years ago!
How was it to be the first Harder Styles DJ to perform on the Tomorrowland Mainstage?
Massive! It’s one of those moments you dream of as an artist. And it was a huge honour to be the first Hardstyle act on such a MainStage.
Can you describe yourself in 3 words?
Persistent. Loving. Passionate.
You have performed at the biggest festivals but do you still have a dream to perform at a special event or festival? Which one is it?
Of course… My next goal is EDC Vegas Mainstage, Ultra Miami Mainstage. But also keep on rocking those major Hardstyle stages at festivals like Defqon.1, Reverze, Qlimax etc. Ain’t no stopping me!
You are probably familiar with the drugs in the scene, what do you think about that?
I’m cool with that. As long as you know what you’re doing. It might sound weird for the “not out of the box” thinking people. But you ARE able to control yourself when taking drugs, you ARE able to do things responsible. As long as you’re responsible and don’t over-do things… you do you.
You are known as Mr. Dirty Workz himself, but what does this label mean to you?
My firstborn musical child. No matter what, it will always have a special place in my heart. We are making Hardstyle history.
What do you enjoy doing when you are away from your career as a dj/producer?
I am a movie addict. So I go to the movies a lot… I’m in love with Asia, so me and my girl like travelling to Bali, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia etc.
Thanks so much for taking the time to answer our questions.
No Problem… Thanks for joining Hardstyle! 😉
A new Member for the Family. Welcome Firelite
Welcome to the Family Firelite! The Australian DJ joined DWX Update on the 20.04.2020. He’s a young talented Dj who’s now a happy Member of Dirty Workz. His latest single was a collab with Paul Gannon. Burn was released on Electric Fox. Out of time is also a really well-known track which was a collab with Riot Shift a crazy xtra raw track. Ravers Fantasy is one of his solo tracks and you can hear that he likes hard kicks in combination with melody. We can except a lot of new and cool music from him.
