After two years of absence, the organizer I-Motion calls for a new edition of the well-known indoor event Mayday. Dancing and celebrating people will finally embrace May 1st. in the Westphalenhalle – while dancing to electronic beats. We from HardstyleMag took a close look at the Lineup.

It’s called the mother of all raves – Mayday. It was the year 1991 when the first Mayday took place in Berlin on December 14th. And founded a completely new movement in the event sector. The idea of large-scale techno events was born. And over the years, the followers of Mayday became more and more.
MAYDAY THE MOTHER OF ALL RAVES
MAYDAY has been a meeting place for the electronic music scene since 1991, making it the most traditional German indoor rave. On April 30, the event will be celebrated in Dortmund’s Westfalenhallen under the motto “30 Years”. The event has always stood for progress and change (“Forward Ever, Backward Never”). Even after 30 years, MAYDAY manages to unite the best DJs of the new generation with those who have been known for years – the roots of electronic music meet new innovative styles.
THE CONCEPT
The lineup consists of over 30 top artists and newcomers to the scene. Among them are young up-and-coming artists with a fresh sound like Lilly Palmer and Clara Cuvé. Lilly Palmer is considered the latest big discovery in techno – almost a million people follow her on Instagram. Top stars like Amelie Lens and Kobosil were already frenetically celebrated by fans at the Polish edition of MAYDAY. The lineup is completed by DJs who have been established for years, such as Dubfire, Joris Voorn and Monika Kruse. The harder sounds will be presented by Dutch DJs Dr. Peacock, Warface and Frontliner, among others.
The complete event will be held for a total of 14 hours (7 – 9 p.m.) on three floors.
“For 30 years, MAYDAY has been a meeting place. The ravers socialize and enjoy a carefree time together. Values like joie de vivre, openness and tolerance are in the foreground. Values that make up society and living together. For more than two years, they were denied this experience. Accordingly, the need to catch up is huge,” says Oliver Vordemvenne from the organizer I-Motion.

Once again, MAYDAY offers three dance floors to respect any preferred style of electronic music. For Harddance lovers the Factory stage might be the best choice.

THE ORIGIN OF MAYDAY
Originally the event was brought into being, in order to support the radio station DT64 standing before the Aus Aus. After the first edition in 1991 in Berlin, MAYDAY took place for the first time in 1993 in Dortmund’s Westfalenhallen. On the occasion of its 20th anniversary, the event attracted a record 27,000 visitors.
