The new talent at Theracords – Invector
He is not even 18 years old, but now already member of one of the most established labels in the scene. Invector joined Theracords right at Q-Base. His latest track Destruction is already featured in my DJ sets and of course Thera’s Radioshow. Within our Theracords weem, we thought this guy has maybe some interesting thoughts to share. Being so young and signed to a well known label is very rare.
Let me first ask you, how do you feel now, after Theracords announced you as a new member of their label, as well after your short performance on stage?
I’m really confused to be honest. I never really expected this at all. I’m really proud and happy. My dreams are coming true and I can’t wait to make unforgettable memories with you all.
Can you maybe introduce yourself to the audience?
Of course! My name is Daan Zoomers and I’m 17 years old. My alias is Invector and I’ve recently signed at Theracords. I started producing when I was 14 years old.
How was the reaction of the crowd while being announced and while dropping some fresh, new and upcoming tunes?
It was amazing! Q-Base was my first gig ever and I didn’t know what to expect. When Pieter said ‘give it up for Invector!’ I got goose bumps. The crowd was screaming when I played my first track. The atmosphere during my set was perfect and I want to thank everyone who was at there! I still can’t believe I played at Q-Base this year and I can’t wait to rock the stage again!
How did you imagine your upcoming career? What are your first aims? What are your biggest goals you want to achieve?
That’s a good question! I never thought I would come this far in such a short time. I’m still confused by what is happening right now. I want to become as good as Noisecontrollers, it’s hard to get on that level but if you really want something you can do it.
My biggest goals would be: an own event, a collab with Radical Redemption or Noisecontrollers (Or both :p), playing my own tracks at the biggest festival and see the crowd go insane… I know it sounds almost unachievable but I’m really determined that it’s possible to achieve this all if I put a lot effort into my work!
Now that you have the opportunity to work with a variety of artists at Theracords, what be a possible collab? With which artists would you love to work with?
I’m already working on a collab with Caine! but it would be awesome if I could make a collab with Deetox, Delete or Jason Payne! I really like Diana’s (Deetox) tracks and It would be awesome to create a track with her. I also like Ryan’s (Delete) latest productions.
The drive in his tracks is insane and I’m a big fan of that.
And last but not least, Sanjay! I’ve already been in contact with Sanjay (Jason Payne) for a while. After he supported Destruction and E.M.P. we kept in contact and it would be awesome to make a track with him.
In which direction will your musical path lead? Are you more into the rougher Sounds, crazy kicks and high screeches, or are going to be more melodic?
I really like to make my track sound rough but I also like melodic tracks. A combination between those two is the best. I prefer melodic breaks with a lot of atmosphere in it with an rough drop as well as a melodic drop.
Now, let me know, you’re just 17 years old, but you’re now signed at a very established label. How do you feel about this development? How did you come in touch with Theracords?
It feels amazing! I sent my first track to Pieter (Dj Thera) when I was 14 years old and we kept in contact. I always sent my new tracks to him for feedback. After 2,5 years Sanjay (Jason Payne) told Pieter he should listen to my latest tracks. Pieter sent me a message via Facebook and I gave him a few new tracks. He was really enthusiastic and asked if I wanted to come over and talk about my future.
How do your parents feel about it? I guess they had to sign the contract as well, right? What did they say, when you told them you’ll perform at the Theracords stage at Q-Base?
My parents as well as my sister are very proud! They have been supporting me since day one! I’m really thankful for that. But to come back to your question: Yes, my parents had to sign the contract as well because I’m not 18 yet, haha.
After our meeting Pieter toldme and my parents that he would like to announce me at the Theracords stage at Q-Base. I was really excited and I didn’t know what to say. My parents were really happy but they didn’t know how big Q-Base was hahaha. I showed them a few pictures and they were amazed!
#11 | The Future of Hardstyle - Authentic & Invector
How did everything start for you?
A friend of mine showed me FL Studio, the program where I create my tracks in, and I was enthusiastic about it! When I came home I immediately searched for FL Studio and put in on my computer. Since that moment I produced everyday and sometimes during the night. In the beginning my tracks were really bad and I received a lot of negative comments about them, but my family and friends always supported me.
After a while I showed my grandpa my first track and he really liked it. He’s also a musician and learned me musical theory like chord progressions and how I can make a structure in my track. One and a half year later my tracks were getting better and I sent my tracks to big names, they gave me feedback and I used it to improve my tracks.
Now that you’re a member of Theracords, what tips can you give other upcoming producers and djs?
It’s really important to have your own style at the moment. In other words: it’s important to have a signature sound.
Besides that, you should do whatever you want, make what you like!
Don’t forget to send your tracks to other producers to help each other and make connections. Connections are really important in this business and they will help you to get there much faster than you would without them.
And last but not least, never give up! If you want to become a professional producer/dj you must go 200% for it!
Let me know, which melody makes you smile the most?
Bass Modulators – Let Me See Ya (Noisecontrollers Remix), I heard this track for the first time at The Qontinent 2015 and I immediately felt in love with it! I really like the summer vibe in it and the huge mid-intro!
What are you doing besides? Hobbies? School? Are you planning to become a full time producer and dj, or are you going to study a specific subject as well and besides?
Well I’m addicted to producing, hahaha. During the vacation and weekends I produce around 15 hours a day. But besides that I go to the gym to stay fit. I also attend the Higher General Secundairy Education. I study Communication.
I’m planning to become a full time producer and dj, it’s the best thing in the world and I want to do this for a long time! 🙂
Were your parents once yelling at you, because of the same sounds and noises coming over and over again from your room?
Of course hahaha, they always hear the bass when I’m producing. Sometimes they ask to me how I can listen to a short sample over and over, haha. But in the end when they hear the final version their reaction is really cool.
