Interview about his music

1. How did you come in touch with hardstyle?

I was around 15 or 16 years old and I visited a festival for the first time. My parents always said: “when you finish the school, you can go to a festival!”. My first festival was Fantasy Island in my home town, I listened to hardstyle before, but I never met real hardstyle lovers or felt those goosebumps while going crazy on the records the Dj was spinning. I looked up to the Dj and thought “I want to do the same!”.

2. Was there a specific song or artist which got you into the mood?

No, I didn’t really think about the artists or the name of the songs, I just listened to it and enjoyed the atmosphere at the parties!

3. When did you decide to produce hardstyle? Did you ever think about producing more euphoric hardstyle? Why rawstyle?

All started after this event! I got in touch with the first programs like Fruity Loops for producing and I started DJing. At first it was a hobby and later on it evolved into my job and the thing I love.

Well, I was never really focused on a style or a sub-genre. For me hardstyle is hardstyle, no matter if it’s raw or euphoric. I like to produce what I want at that moment. Who knows, maybe there will be a euphoric track one day!

I mean, if you listen to my tracks like “Scream” or “Survivors” it’s a kind of mixed style. A dark atmosphere combined with some euphoric elements like a melody. For me, it’s important to have that melody, just a kick and a screech would be too simple. I like to try stuff out and I’m still looking for my style!

4. Where do you get your inspiration from?

That can be different. It can come from other tracks or songs from a different genre. I like rap for example. But it can also be a vocal from a movie and when they stuck in my head I try doing something with it.

The melody for “Killa Hilla” for example, was made, while I was laying in my bed. I had that melody in my mind, grabbed my phone and wrote it down! I jumped out of bed, when I finished, ran upstairs and started working on it!

5. Fusion Records is a great label and a big chance for an artist like you, but what are your future goals? Are there any festivals you want to play or is there a producer you really want to do a collab with?

Fusion was always a dream, since I was in the scene, so I’m happy and proud to be a part of it! A dream became true. Every artist is different, but we don’t hate on each other, we support us, that’s pretty important!

I first sent some stuff to Titan and he liked it, after that everything went really fast for me. In the future I would really love to do a track with B-Front. I think both our styles would match.

6. Did you ever worked in a studio with Titan?

Nope, not yet. I’m busy with my own solo tracks and trying to improve them on a technical level. Maybe somewhere in the future I’m gonna do more collabs.

7. What can we expect from you this year? Any interesting stuff you’ve planned?

A lot more bookings coming up and I’m happy about every single one! When I’m in the studio, I take my time to produce a track, it sometimes takes me about 10 weeks, because I want to do my best job possible and I always try to improve every tiny thing I don’t like. That will be my focus: trying to improve my tracks until I’m 100% satisfied with them.

8. Could you describe your style with your own words. For example, how do you start when producing?

For me, it’s important to have a combination of a screech and a lead, like I mentioned before. That makes a track “complete”. A track feels empty, when it’s just a screech and a kick. Scream was my first big bomb, I really liked that track and I think I improved myself with Survivors and Killa Hilla. So, I will try to improve myself again with the next track.

SCREAM

Requiem – Scream! Nice screeches, a good lead, a raw kick and a dark atmosphere in one single track!

9. How do you feel while on stage, what motivates you and get’s you wild?

Of course, there are some big parties I would love to play at. My first big party was Hardbass and I would love to perform on stage one day. When I recently visited Hardbass and my track Killa Hilla was played – man that was an awesome feeling, can’t describe it!

Some other festivals I really want to play at are Decibel, of course, and maybe Mysteryland! I try to enjoy every gig I play at! I was really nervous at the beginning and I’m still but always try to mix perfectly and stay concentrated while doing it! The feeling when the crowd is reacting to what you play and what you do on stage is insane! When I drop new tracks, I always hope to receive a positive reaction and to see this reaction is driving me crazy!

10. Okay, I guess this question is one of those, everybody needs to answer himself, but what do you think about the changing or evolving genre?

What I see nowadays is, that all the people just want it as hard as possible. People start hating about other producers who maybe think out of the box or who produce something else as they would normally do.

I respect that, because every producer has the freedom to do what he wants. But in the last years, hardstyle evolved into a big scene, gathering people from all over the world at festivals and I’m really looking forward to the future!
